14 Comments Ah, the sound of a little damsel in distress. Time for daddy to play the knight in shining armour again.
“What is it, baby?”
“I’m a duck!”
“What?”
“I’M A DUCK!” She points to her foot which is wedged between the bedpost and the wall.
“Oh, you’re stuck? Here, let me help you, sweetie.”
“Hep mee peeeese!!!”
“Okay, just a second….. there you go.”
I move the bed a little and gently unwedge her foot. As she rubs her toes, her lips flatten into a pout and she gives me a doleful look.
“Tengs.”
“You’re welcome, sweetie. Are you okay?”
A huge tear rolls down her cheek. She scrunches her eyes to squeeze out a few more for good measure.
“Is beanful.”
“Painful? Okay, want Daddy to sayang your toesies?”
“Cayang towsy!” She points her whole foot at my mouth.
As I’m not sure which toe(s) require treatment, I kiss them all just to be safe.
Mmm, yummy… talk about the most delicious toes this side of China. I reckon she has another two years of “kissability” left in those toesies. Better make the most of them before the expiry date.
“Are you feeling better now?”
“Beta,” she nods, wriggling her toes as if to test they were still working.
“Daddy will get you a lollipop, ya?” Daddy recently introduced her to Chupa Chups.
“Lipop!” All traces of pain and discomfort instantly evaporate. Daddy knight knows his princess all too well.
Kisses and lollipops - pretty much the best cure in the universe for treating knocks and bruises for kids aged 5 and under. No prescription needed. Highly enjoyable, too!
